Strike a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; reprove a man of understanding, and he will gain knowledge.
When a scoffer is punished, the simple becomes wise; when a wise man is instructed, he gains knowledge.
A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool.
A fool despises his father's instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent.
Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones. So you shall purge the evil from your midst, and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
And all Israel shall hear and fear and never again do any such wickedness as this among you.
