To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men; preserve me from violent men,
who rescued me from my enemies; yes, you exalted me above those who rose against me; you delivered me from the man of violence.
Guard me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from violent men, who have planned to trip up my feet.
Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel man.
O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you “Violence!” and you will not save? Why do you make me see iniquity, and why do you idly look at wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise.
Let not the slanderer be established in the land; let evil hunt down the violent man speedily!
Arise, O Lord! Confront him, subdue him! Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword,
To the choirmaster: according to Do Not Destroy. A Miktam of David, when Saul sent men to watch his house in order to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; protect me from those who rise up against me; deliver me from those who work evil, and save me from bloodthirsty men. For behold, they lie in wait for my life; fierce men stir up strife against me. For no transgression or sin of mine, O Lord,
Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me!
