A Prayer of David. Hear a just cause, O Lord; attend to my cry! Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit!
Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low! Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me!
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. Of David. Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer;
Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
“‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name.”
The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,
A Maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A Prayer. With my voice I cry out to the Lord; with my voice I plead for mercy to the Lord.
I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will execute justice for the needy.
A Prayer of David. Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.
Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me!
The Lord dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he rewarded me.
The Lord judges the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me.
Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.
Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray.
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!”
Attend to me, and answer me; I am restless in my complaint and I moan, because of the noise of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked. For they drop trouble upon me, and in anger they bear a grudge against me.
As soon as they heard of me they obeyed me; foreigners came cringing to me.
let your ear be attentive and your eyes open, to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for the people of Israel your servants, confessing the sins of the people of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Even I and my father's house have sinned.
Yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to me with her whole heart, but in pretense, declares the Lord.”
