Be gracious to me, O Lord! See my affliction from those who hate me, O you who lift me up from the gates of death,
For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.
All her people groan as they search for bread; they trade their treasures for food to revive their strength. “Look, O Lord, and see, for I am despised.”
Her uncleanness was in her skirts; she took no thought of her future; therefore her fall is terrible; she has no comforter. “O Lord, behold my affliction, for the enemy has triumphed!”
I said, In the middle of my days I must depart; I am consigned to the gates of Sheol for the rest of my years.
Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low! Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me!
Look on my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget your law.
Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is your way with those who love your name.
The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. Then I called on the name of the Lord: “O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!”
For you have delivered my soul from death, yes, my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.
But my foes are vigorous, they are mighty, and many are those who hate me wrongfully.
Consider how many are my foes, and with what violent hatred they hate me.
Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
“Now, therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love, let not all the hardship seem little to you that has come upon us, upon our kings, our princes, our priests, our prophets, our fathers, and all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria until this day.

they loathed any kind of food, and they drew near to the gates of death.
